I am a daughter of Christ. I am here to seek, love, and maintain a healthy relationship with my heavenly father. Like many, I have gone through my fair share of trials and accomplishments, and within those trials and accomplishments, I have learned a thing or two about myself, my emotions, and how to redirect my thoughts back to Christ.
In my twenty-four years of life, I have come to recognize my thought patterns in different situations. It's easy for me to jump to conclusions and assume the worst. Not just about other people, but about myself and my relationships. Over the last two and a half years, one of my best friends began to ask me in trying times... "What is truth?" In the beginning, I was annoyed with her asking me that question repeatedly over and over again, "what is truth Aubrey? What does God say is true? What is his promise for us?" Then one night, it hit me. Why was I brushing off her question? Why wasn't I intentionally seeking an answer to what is God's truth? And so I started journaling about every trial and broken moment I had experienced and what I was taking out of those broken moments. My realization? God was there with me through every tear, every meltdown, every sleepless night. As alone as I felt, I wasn't alone. I had someone cheering for me on the sidelines, ready to pick me up and fight with me every time I fell.
"Do not fear, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."
Goals for yourself
Take a Breath
Before moving forward in a stress-filled moment, take 10 seconds to yourself and Breathe. Don't let your emotions rise and take over what you know to be true.
The power of a quick prayer can work wonders. It doesn't have to be extravagant or fancy. Just stop and ask Christ "Help." He does the rest.
Write it out
Writing in a journal or using the "notes" app on your phone to organize your thoughts can give you a point of view that you haven't thought of before.
Verses to Remember
But he said, "What is impossible with man is possible with God."
"There is no one like the God of Jeshurun, who rides across the heavens to help you and on the clouds in His majesty. The eternal god is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms. He will drive out your enemies before you, saying 'Destroy them!'"
